Sometimes it's becaue of the labels. They can usually release mixtapes without the label having much of a say. But with albums, sometimes the artists don't have much freedom. So oftentimes their mixtapes are better because they're not trying to fit the label's style

The artists have full freedom when it comes to making Mixtapes but when it comes to an album it is decided by the labels so yea there goes your answer.

I hate how artists waste good songs on free mixtapes. You're supposed to make people pay for songs like 'juggernauts'

Not that I wouldn't pay for an album, I'll definitely buy Eminem's new album, but if there is a free mixtape, that's freaking sweet.
