eminem off late has been working wid pop icons like rihanna , bruno mars, pink , skylar grey , lady gaga etc and i often wonderr why? i mean this is the same guy who sold 700k first week ( min ) with no features outside of shady / aftermath with all his previous albums so why take the pop route now?? with the amount of stans he has (like me) eminem can literally fart into the mic throughout the whole album and that shit will do like 1 million first week . do you think these pop ft really influence his sales? imo hes just losing credibility .

1. Em isnt losing any credibility by working with Rihanna, Bruno, etc. He's at the point of his career where he's already proven himself and he can work with whoever he wants without tainting his legacy.
2. NO he doesnt need pop features to sell in this era (Relapse), but pop features give a huge buzz and increase his popularity. When he released LTWYL he was getting played EVERYWHERE and everyone liked him again (except for the 'real hip hop' fans).. If he doesnt have a pop feature he'll get no buzz (look at the difference between the release of Relapse & Recovery).. Everyone around here knew that Recovery was Ems album but barley anyone knew about Relapse. You cant compare to his earlier albums cuz times have changed.

He's already done everything he has wanted to do in his career, now he is exploring other areas in music, which in my opinion is a good thing.

Just remember "Not Afraid" which was his first single off Recovery and directly went #1 - without a feature (!). I think instead of saying "he has lost credibility" you should ask yourself "do you still believe in his own skills (not concerning the features)?" which would indicate whether you're still a true fan (considering his new stuff) or not. The features definitely influence his sales, that's right, but I don't really see where the problem is. I would agree with abrahammatta's statement: "times have changed", and in the end I'm always happy to hear new stuff from Eminem and even if it's a Lady Gaga feature, I mainly concentrate on Em's part(s) anyway

Skylar Grey is great though. Bruno Mars was a Royce's request, Lady Gaga is not going to happen... Em wanted Skylar to sing instead of Rihanna... Industry's power I guess..

Come on though, if Em kept doing the same kind of music, he would get predictable and some people would get bored of his material. I wouldn't personally but that's me.

He totally doesn't NEED features. But it's a good thing for him to switch up what he's doing every once in a while.
