What does everyone think of Hip-Hop today, do you think it has got better or is worse?
In my opinion, I actually do not know.

hm difficult question at one side hip hop is dead look at these whole ymcmb and swag rap movement... the kids these days listen to this trash going out and think they heard real rap... the lyrics have become dumb as hell (just remember "rack city" or "stupid hoe" type shit) it's all about a catchy beat and a catchy hook ( just like em said in syllables) on the other side guys like kendrick lamar, lupe fiasco or j. cole keep hip hop alive these guys have real lyrics, meaningful messages and they are rapping from the heart.. and of course the underground are one thing that keep hip hop alive. many underground artists are million times better than mainstream artits who get the spotlight... so well for me it's a tie don't know which way hip hop will go if guys like em retire.... but for me i can say if you search you found real rap

When Eminem left.. it got worse and worse. We got Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Drake, etc etc.
After 2010, hiphop is getting better again. 50 is back, and fuck his recent shit is awesome, we got Kendrick Lamar, who is a real motherfucker, Em is getting better too. We got Yela, etc.

Mainstream artists are less lyrical, less complex today, but more catchy and marketable. Underground artists are much better, a lot of them are insanely great lyricists.
I wish more of the amazingly good underground artists like The Jokerr, Hopsin, Gho5t, Oh See Dee, K-Holla, SevidemiC, and myself (if that's not too cocky to put myself on this list), among others, could get recognized as a valid contender in the rap game, independent or otherwise.

Great albums are releasing even today but they don't get enough attention.. Music has been taken over by that commercial shit

it has gotten better , the 80's and 90's artists weren't lyrically and technically complex except G Rap , Wu Tang , Rakim , Mobb Depp Nas and Kane but the artists now would shit on them . Kendrick Lamar , Yelawolf , Slaughterhouse , Danny Brown , Big Krit , Action Bronson , Joey Badass , Ab Soul , Pro era , Mayday , Rittz , Eminem , Jay Z plus the rap beasts underground are all more complex than the golden age hip hop artists that it's almost ridiculous how people can say hip hop is dead now . Kendrick Lamar , Joey , Ab Soul , Talib Kweli do the same conscious rap that Pac did but are 100x more lyrical than pac was . Then you've got the weed rappers like SchoolBoy Q who will stomp any older artist in the same category . The southern rappers don't make the same bouncy pimp shit anymore Yelawolf , Krit and Rittz are putting the south back on the map . As for the Hype artists well even old school hip hop had hype artists but the hype artists now get more radioplay which is not their fault . Overall New school >> Old school.

I don't know how much stuff you've listened to from the 90's Bass, but lyricism was the thing back then. If you didn't have complex lyrics you weren't shit. The 90's kicks today's ass in terms of lyricism. You've only name dropped a few people who support your idea, but in reality most of the kats from the 90's would kill most people out now. The 80's was the start of hip hop and lyrics were very basic at that point. So you have a point there. But a lot of the rappers that you quote for "today" started in the 90's. Eminem was late 90's, Jay-Z, Talib Kweli debuted in the underground scene in the 90's. I mostly listen to stuff from the 1980's/90's and underground shit. And yeah, a lot of underground stuff would lyrically beat the 90's stuff, but as far as mainstream, there are very few who even are in teh conversation.

However, I think hip hop has gotten better in the last few years. It seemed to be dying from 2006-2010 ish. But now you have people coming out like Kendrick, Big Krit, Yelawolf, Ab Soul and a bunch of other guys getting mainstream attention. Plus you still have a few heavyweights hanging around and mentoring the younger guys. I think we're kind of breaking out of a dark ages for hip hop. In 5-10 years saying hip hop is dead will be a thing of the past.

1 Train w/ ASAP, Kendrick, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson & Big KRIT proves that Hip Hop is not dead.
In addition, you have TDE, and to be fair, if you don't appreciate what they're doing, you don't appreciate Hip Hop. Slaughterhouse, GOOD Music, MMG(partially) + the old cats still keeps it going.
Stop focusing on that whole Young Money movement, they're just a portion of what the genre has to offer.

U cant really say it got worse, its just different. Its like u cant compare 90s to 00s, and 00s to nowdays, for me i like 97-07 era, everyone was different (eminem, dmx, xzibit, 50, game, d12, busta, proof). Thats why i dont like all this new rapers coming they ( besides slaughterhouse, b.o.b, kendrick) all the same, even sound alike.
